Alternate spellings: A list of alternate spellings for common names that either should or should not be attempted by new parents

(Apologies to McSweeney's lists.)

Should be attempted: 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 12.
Should not be attempted: 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11.

    That's the point, BJ. If you're going to go with the alternate spellings, go big or go home. Had it been "EmmaLee" I would have given it a thumbs down. But Mle ... well, that's just ridiculous enough to work.

    Also, Marieaux and Phlopp are both solid. I'm kicking myself for not including an "eau" construction. And everyone knows I'm a sucker for a superfluous consonant.
