Right Brain vs. Left Brain

Let's have a rare post that doesn't involve an argument or opinion.*

Click through the link. I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out. My response was immediate. It took a long time to see it the other way.

I'm not going to say more than that because I don't want to screw with the results. If you're reading this, I'm curious to hear the reaction. I'll tell you how I came out in the comments.

*No, I wasn't supposed to post for awhile, but the monsoon that hit the East Coast today screwed up a portion of my travel. Round 2 starts tomorrow.

Right brain. Not what I would have predicted.

Same here. And I always score 'left brain' on these things. And then feel like my artisticness has been invalidated.

Now I'm going to continue to stare at it till I can get it to go the other way. I think this is going to be hard.

Yeah, I'm utterly fascinated by this.

I tried. I tried really hard.

I only spent about 10 minutes, but I could not get it to go counter-clockwise.

Right brain.

I was surprised that most people see it going the other way.

Now that computer-generated naked woman is going to haunt me.

(But this is fascinating; thanks for posting it.)

I did some googling to try to figure out what (if any) science there is behind this. Now I'm able to get it to flip at will, but it always begins clockwise for me.

I could spend all night looking at this. Also, she has sneaky boobs.

Right Brain.

Absolutely wrong. In fact, I am so left brained that I would believe that all things rotating (record player, clocks, the Santa train at the mall, this dancer) should only be turning clockwise.

I think the experiment is set up wrong for this reason.

CN - is this perhaps why you wound up with clockwise?

right brain. couldn't see it the other way at all.

Since everybody's getting right brain, I'm guessing it's not, uh, an accurate test.

CN - Can you share the secret that allows you to flip it at will? I don't want to turn into the chubby guy in Mallrats who can't see the sailboat.

My friend who is incredibly left brained looked at it and immediately saw it going counter-clockwise, but when I moved the page up a little he saw it clockwise and couldn't make it go back.

So weird.

Right brain.

I've always been better at math and science. I have zero creativity at all. This is bullshit, I think.

Stare at the shadow of the foot. It looks like it isn't moving in conjunction with the rest of the body. Try to follow the direction the shadow moves. After a couple minutes of focusing on the shadow, the body switched directions. I couldn't get it to go the other way after I saw it going counter-clockwise, then I didn't stare at it for a minute or so and looked back, and it was going clockwise for me again. Now whenever I look at the foot's shadow and goes counter for me.

Sneaky boobs!

Also, I'm slightly hungover and this is making me dizzy. I don't want to try and make her dance the other way.

Jesus Christ.

This is killing me right now.

I think we all saw her going clockwise because of internet constraints. We saw her head first as we were scrolling down to read the entire page, when to see her going the opposite direction, you need to look at her feet.

I am so right brained I can only see the spinner turning clockwise. However, when I moved my head to the left, or turned my computer on its side, and stared at the feet I could finally see her going counter-clockwise.

I saw her going counterclockwise at first, then as soon as i scrolled down, she seemed to switch to clockwise. Then I scrolled up again, and she switched.

I think this just demonstrates that i clearly can't think straight one way or another.

also, those are some tits on that dancer.

Left brain.
I closed my eyes, opened them, and she was turning the other direction. I'm sorry I only spent 15 seconds on this thing, she has a great set of mams.

I can make her stand perfectly still.

That was freaky. I saw it clockwise for the first two minutes. Then I looked at the shadow. Then she was going counter-clockwise. And I can't get her to change directions again.

AH! So weird! The foot-shadow trick worked. Freaky.

If you stare at it long enough, she starts speaking and disrobing.

I can't make her switch from clockwise to counter. It's driving me batty. Maybe it's the nipples that keep distracting me. Also, what's with the the term "anti-clockwise?" Is that a real word?

Anonymous said...

Dude, she totally has erect nipples! You're right!

Also, she just told me that I'm hot.

Totally freaky. I was convinced I was insane when she turned and went counterclockwise.

Clockwise.
