Woe is Harriet

Poor Harriet. She's been the victim of a high-tech lynching by uppity Christian conservatives.

Or has she?

What if my hunch is correct, and she was actually up to her neck in the legal defense of the Plame investigation? Everyone is dismissing Miers's and the White House's assertion that her withdrawal stems from institutional concerns about executive privilege. But maybe it actually is about executive privilege, and the objection is based less on the preservation of executive privilege per se but more on the details that would come to life concerning the White House's inner workings during Miers's tenure.

Maybe Bush's second nominee will be a pothead.

who do you think could be next up?

No fucking clue. Maybe another wild card, and probably a chick.

Six ill-considered guesses: Gonzalez; Janice Rogers Brown; Edith Jones; Edith Clement; Priscilla Owen; Luttig.

wouldn't it be neat if this time they choose a qualified candidate who also happens to be a chic, and not just some chic to fill the empty girl-seat. or maybe a tranny. let's get a tranny on the court.

Considering the speculation that Roberts and Miers both are gay, a tranny justice now seems quite likely.

Oh, Harriet, we hardly knew ye...

But it sure has been a rough week for Texas, hasn't it (not that I feel even the slightest, tiniest, Cheney's-sense-of-decency-sized bit of sympathy for them)?

First, the Astros get whupped up on by Chicago...

Now, Harriet the (decidedly not) Fly is out...

But don't they say bad things happen in threes?

"Mr. Rove, please pick up line one, there's a gentleman from (gasp!) Chicago who'd like a word."

Merry Fitzmas Eve, everyone...
